Hello,
updatedb contains
-----------------
trap 'rm -f $LOCATE_DB.n; exit' HUP TERM
-----------------
which makes "kill pidofupdateb" less than useful. - The shell waits
for the currently running process to finish on its own, and *then*
runs the action specified by trap.
I've searched a little bit and failed to come up with a solution -
perhaps somebody else know the secret trick.
For reference, this is http://bugs.debian.org/303528
