Hot to use max args for xargs

/mnt/datagrid1/blkbrd3/phase4_ds75/data/MergeFilter/output/test2.txt  |
xargs -n  | zcat -f
its saying  as  bug
/mnt/datagrid1/blkbrd3/phase4_ds75/data/MergeFilter/output/test2.txt  |
xargs -n 999999 | zcat -f
its not  working in a way it has to do.
How to defien max arguments ? for xargs
Can you please provide  me  a small example.
My requirement is
i  had a  file test2.txt it has  "n" no of arguments i am facing a
problem if it has max  arguments soi wan to implement max no of
arguments  for it.
or is there any alternative command for xargs?
