URL: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?32447> Summary: Wishlist: fadvise() Project: findutils Submitted by: stoatwblr Submitted on: Sun Feb 13 03:38:16 2011 Category: find Severity: 3 - Normal Item Group: None Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Alan Brown Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: None Fixed Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: I've discovered that find is causing pagecache poisoning on systems with large filesystems (millions of files). This can probably be mitigated by using fadvise() to tell the OS that files/directory data doesn't need to be cached. As far as I can tell it isn't used in any release version of find. Can the devs look at incorporating this please? _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?32447> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/
