Thanks for the information. Normally I dislike "experimental
programming" because I never can tell (a) whether the behavior I'm
seeing is *specified* or is just how this particular implementation
happens to behave, and (b) what it will do in cases I haven't tried.
But in this case, I think I can guess the specification, and yes, it's
quite odd. It's also essentially undocumented...
Unfortunately, I can't build the latest 'find' until I update my system,
so I'll have to put off dealing with this.
