Hi,
I'm new to this GNU environment so I may not be
providing all the information you require, or indeed notifying the right
people. But I have got an error which requests that I report it to
you
I am using cygwin(not sure of the version but it was
loaded off the web in DEC 2003) under windowsXP
I have managed to down load, build and install
binutils 2.14
gcc 3.3.2
newlib 1.11.0
all these appear to be working in so much as I have
managed to build programmes which download to my mips target and run OK using
the ld option OUTPUT_FORMAT(elf-bigmips)
Now I would like to be able to debug so I have
downloaded insight V6.0. I have pmon loaded and running on the remote
system which is working OK with Green hills multi debugger)
which I have built and installed
(configuration options --host=i686-pc-cygwin
--target=mips-mips-elf --prefix=/usr)
after changing the define and reference for FILE_EXISTS
to FILE_ALREADY_EXISTS this all seems to build OK
running $mips-mips-elf-gdb certainly starts and runs the
GDB in command line mode.
however if I try to load my target file using the
command lie
$mips-mips-elf-gdb hw_menu.elf
I get the following error
address@hidden /nec/emma2l/apps/hw_menu $ mips-mips-elf-gdb -w hw_menu.elf GNU gdb 6.0 Copyright 2003 Free Software Foundation, Inc. GDB is free software, covered by the GNU General Public License, and you are welcome to change it and/or distribute copies of it under certain conditions. Type "show copying" to see the conditions. There is absolutely no warranty for GDB. Type "show warranty" for details. This GDB was configured as "--host=i686-pc-cygwin --target=mips-mips-elf"...BFD: BFD 2.14.90 20030621 internal error, ab orting at ../../insight-6.0/bfd/elfxx-mips.c line 8295 in _bfd_elf_mips_get_relocated_section_contents BFD: Please report this bug.
I will not send the elf file at this time as it is rather large (27meg),
but should you require it or any further information, please feel free to
ask.
If there is something I can do to overcome this problem please
let me know.
Also while I have your attention do I still need to use the tkl files from
v5.1?
yours sincerely
Graeme Mawson
