Details:
The following is consumed just fine by autoreconf.
...
AM_GNU_GETTEXT([external], [need-ngettext])
AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION([0.19.8])
...
If I indent the two lines with white space, I get...
$ autoreconf -v -i
...
autoreconf: configure.ac: AM_GNU_GETTEXT is used, but not
AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION
...
I am using:
gettext (GNU gettext-runtime) 0.19.8.1
autoreconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.69
