Thanks for the hints. I tested different drivers: ibmpro, epson and
necp6 didn't work, only okiibm gave some decipherable, but
unsatisfactory results: Fonts smaller than 14pt are quite unreadable
and graphics have no differentiation.

The Toshiba P351 printer is a 24-pin printer. It is controlled by
Toshiba's Control Code Set, which (I quote from the manual) "is based on
the Qume SPRINT5/11 standard. ... With dual emulation, the IBM Graphics
Printer Control Code Set is also available. ... The Qume SPRINT 5 and
Qume SPRINT 11 are to popular 'daisywheel' printers. ... Although the
Qume escape sequences are a subset of the Toshiba Control Code Set, ...
. The Toshiba/Qume control codes are the preferred codes to use,
however, if your software package does not have Toshiba or Qume on its
installation menu, you can use IBM Graphics Printer emulation."

With Toshiba's Control Code Set the P351 has 180x180dpi and 360x180dpi
resolution. In IBM emulation mode "the Toshiba printers expand the
standard IBM graphics column to three horizontal dots in 1/180th inch
pitch and 20 vertical dots" (with IBM 60dpi image graphics mode, other
transformation with 120dpi and 240dpi modes). So using IBM emulation
mode won't give excellent results, of course.

Some idea how ghostscript will convice my antique printer to generate
marvellous output?

          Thanks for help
