In fact, Vietnamese usually say:
- "12 gio+` d-e^m", it means 00am in English. (d-e^m: night)
- "x gio+` sa'ng" with x in 01-11, it means 01am to 11am in English. (sa'ng:
morning)
- "12 gio+` tru+a", it means 12pm in English. (tru+a: noon)
- "x gio+` chie^`u" with x in 01-06, it means 01pm to 06pm in English. (chie^`u:
afternoon)
- "x gio+` to^'i" with x in 07-11, it means 07pm to 11pm in English. (to^'i:
evening)
In more detail, it is also said:
- "x gio+` d-e^m" with x in 01-03, it means 01am to 03am in English.
- "x gio+` tru+a" with x in 01-03, it means 01pm to 03pm in English.

I think that it is acceptable to use sa/ch for am/pm in Vietnamese. I have
read that some where in a Vietnamese web site www.fpt.vn, but that site was
restructured and I cannot find that document now.
