porting glibc -> netbsd

I'm very interested in porting glibc to the NetBSD platform. Apparently, this
has been done before by a guy named velco, however, I'm trying to build his
work without any success. 

I'm totally new to glibc, but rather eager to learn. Any people willing to
point me to the right docs on this subject. Also, you mention in your
porting.html that only sysdeps/ should be touched. Would this be the same
when porting to a new kernel ??
