I had been testing my sample script from within a clearcase view ! Now I accidentally ran it outside the view & boom ! it worked ! So it looks like clearcase was the culprit (more specific, I think the mvfs driver loaded by clarcase has hijacked statfs() ! I need to debug this further !)
I believe upgrades that can fix your kernel problem are available at http://bitkeeper.com and http://perforce.com. Be sure to uninstall Clearcase before installing those fixes :-) Also, the upgrades may save you a lot of money, which may be a problem (organizations that actually buy Clearcase obviously need to throw money away rapidly, and the lower cost of the alternatives doesn't meet that need). - Dan
