Porting glibc to MacOS x

Hi,

My name is John Plaice and I am one of the main authors of Omega,
which is a generalization of TeX for typesetting the world's languages.
I have a MacOS portable, and am dismayed that I cannot use the
wchar_t locale support in the GNU C++ compiler because this support
relies on the glibc wchar and wcsmbs parts of glibc.

And glibc is not ported to MacOS.

How much work would it be to port glibc to MacOS?
Do you know of anyone currently doing this?
