Hi,
I have continued working on gnuchess after fixing that Linux/PPC
problem with gcc-2.95 and optimization -O2. Now I have a new version
under
http://www.mathematik.uni-dortmund.de/lsix/geyer/gnuchess/
The differences to the current CVS version of gnuchess:
- Changed build system to automake
- Fixed endianness issues, changed binary book format to
an architecture-independent format.
- Added "help" command
- Added command line editing, when readline is available
- Various cleanups, converted to explicitly sized types
where important
- Speeded up the book building algorithm through use of
a hash by an order of magnitude, should now take less
than an hour on reasonable computers from the 100M book.pgn
The diff starts to grow, and to keep a diff to an evolving CVS
version is sort of difficult, so I would like to know if there
is any interest in incorporating these changes, or parts of them.
Best regards,
Lukas
