GNU Chess

Hello, I am writing in hopes that someone can help me
out with the compilation of gnuchess-5.06  I have read
the readme file as well as the install file, but I am
still having no luck configuring the source code.  I
have use the ./configure command in the command prompt
but continually receive an error...

C:\Downloads\chess\gnuchess-5.06\src>./configure
Bad command or file name

Is there something that I am doing wrong?  Could you
tell me any steps I need to do, or any other reference
documents to look under?  Any help would be greatly
appreciated.  Thank you.
