Hi,

your email just arrived here, sorry for any delay.

The copyright for GNU Chess 5 is held by the FSF, and you are welcome to
distribute it under the terms of the GNU General Public Licence version 2.

You should have received a copy of this licence with your copy of GNU
Chess, otherwise check the COPYING file in the tar ball.

ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/chess/gnuchess-5.07.tar.gz

In general as long as you make the source code available including any
modifications you may make, which I assume is your intent given the
title of the book, you are free to redistribute GNU Chess 5.

Please let us know more details of the book as I'm sure plenty of people
here will be interested to read it.
