We don't know how you are calling GNU Chess, if you are using
WinBoard try http://www.tim-mann.org/
In general Winboard and Xboard store the settings in the command
line, under Windows this would be in the icon properties.

I can't find any in version 5.07 README, which is the current version.
One reference in the GNU tools mkinstalldir comments, but that is
