Straight from advice.el:

(defadvice switch-to-buffer (before existing-buffers-only activate)
  "When called interactively switch to existing buffers only, unless
when called with a prefix argument."
  (interactive
   (list (read-buffer "Switch to buffer: " (other-buffer)
                      (null current-prefix-arg)))))
