font-lock in c++-mode.

This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
 not to your local site managers!!
Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.

In GNU Emacs 20.3.1 (mips-sgi-irix6.2, Motif)
 of Thu Sep  3 1998 on zeus
configured using `configure  --with-x-toolkit=motif --with-gcc=no 
--prefix=/usr/local/emacs --with-pop'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

After launching emacs from a shell (using X11):
  emacs new_file.cc &

where new_file.cc is a nonexisting file, I end up in c++-mode.  Then I
type the following:

/*/ Bla, bla and bla */
/* As opposed to bla, bla and bla */

These lines are each valid c++ comments. However, the syntax
highlighting if different. After '/*/' in the first line the comment
font changes back to normal, leaving the rest ' Bla, bla and bla */'
in normal font. In the second line, the entire comment '/* As opposed
to bla, bla and bla */' is shown in comment font. I think this is

I tried this in version 20.7 (linux) of emacs as well and also without
using my .emacs startup file (-q option). They all show the same
