A long time ago I've sent a patch, to support passing column
information to the emacs server. The patch is available as
http://www.cs.uu.nl/~hanwen/public/software/emacsclient-column ;
I has not been included, at least not in emacs-21.0.103 . I'd like to
repeat my request to include this patch. It allows you to invoke
emacsclient as
emacsclient +LINE:COLUMN FILE
