Undo is nice, however let's say you didn't notice you were still in
overwrite-mode, and by the time you looked up, you had destroyed several
hundred previous characters. As of now, undo seemingly gives you the
choice between your old text or your new text, but not both. Hmmm.

Wait, one could first copy [M-w] the new text before doing the
undos... OK, this technique should be mentioned in the manual and
*help*... on both the overwrite-mode and undo pages.
