B&W display and emacs21

B&W display and emacs21 |

while I was able to run emacs20 in its own on an B&W display, I can't
do that any longer with emacs21. This is the display.
screen #0:
dimensions: 1280x1024 pixels (325x260 millimeters)
resolution: 100x100 dots per inch
depths (1): 1
If I start emacs21 first on color display, and then use
make-frame-on-display <BW display> I get results like
at the url below. It would work fine for emacs20.

If I try to start it from xterminal, it will refuse to start
unless I give it '-nw' option to start in xterm.
[adam@pepsi adam]$ /usr/local/emacs21/bin/emacs
No fonts match `-*-fixed-medium-r-normal-*-16-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1'
the Black&White display is an x-terminal.
