Off-topic from the original post here...
It's nice that clicking on the fringe shows the rest of the filename,
but then one can no longer see the beginning of the filename...
Wouldn't it be nicer to be able to see such a filename (the whole
thing) pop up in a window (may be a tooltip-like thing) when the mouse
pointer is above the relevant area of the fringe?
What do you think?
I confess I don't know much about the fringe in any detail.
