what happens when you forget which register you put something in?

`M-x view-register <RET> R'
     Display a description of what register R contains.

But thinking it might understand your situation, you just hit RET,
and:

"Register RET is empty"

Yes, I notice there exists a alist, but what I think emacs needs is an
new "Register report function" that will produce a nice list,
reminiscent of "Buffer List" that shows, listed by types of registers,
a nice summary of all you need to know... name, size, etc.

That nobody forgot what register names they use is understandable, but
now as many emacs users may be entering the grey haired era...

Maybe this "register report function" exists as an independent
package... if so then it should be officialized, with a ceremony set
for Senior Citizens Day.
