quoted-insert in picture-mode in macro

From: David desJardins
Subject: quoted-insert in picture-mode in macro
Date: Mon, 4 Mar 2002 18:20:59 -0800 (PST)

This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!!
Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.

In GNU Emacs 20.6.1 (sparc-sun-solaris2.6, X toolkit)
of Fri Apr 28 2000 on gold
configured using `configure --prefix=/local/sol/2.6/depot/emacs-20.6'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Macros containing C-q (quoted-insert) don't work properly in
picture-mode. Enter picture-mode. Define the macro C-q SPC C-b.
Execute the macro again. The macro leaves the point in the wrong
position: instead of pointing just before the inserted space (as it
would if the same commands had been executed), it points to one
position previous.

I'm reporting this from 20.6, but I've verified that 20.7 has the same
