Details, please: how much trime does it take in Emacs and how much in
Bash, what command did you try for completion in Emacs, etc.

Some of the completion primitives are implemented in C, but several
commands use Lisp-based completion, so the details matter.

FWIW, I find Emacs completion to be fast enough.
