error messages too many too fast equals no error messages

OK, I do
(debug-on-entry (quote widget-button-click))
and boom
mouse-yank-at-click: Buffer is read-only: #<buffer *Article tlug.tlug*>

oh, never mind all that, that is tipped me off to this:

I am missing tons of error messages because they come by all at once
in the minibuffer, and must check *Messages*.

Because 4 or 5 error messages all at once often just appear as if
there is no error at all, I think you need to slow them down across
the board somehow...
