ange-ftp won't show you anything until it gets it all

I was in dired ftping to a remote site.
I hit C-u s R to get a ls -aRl listing.
This was taking real long with nothing yet on the screen, and it was
time to hang up the phone before another "coin was about to drop".
After hangup, not only did I not see any results of the lengthy
partial download of the listing, even the /tmp file where it was went
bye bye.  This combined with the "no results until we download
everything" while online, is disappointing and should perhaps be
replaced by some listing with a "(partial results)" marker at bottom
or something.

I don't suppose there in the GNU Labs you still have facilities to
test this, with all your super fast connections and stuff.
