A fix/improvment to Calendar, how to proceed?

Hello very dear maintainers of Wonderful Emacs,

I would like to contribute with a small fix/improvment in package
`calendar'.  This improvment provides unambiguous abbreviations of
month names.  Not useful in English, but useful in other language such
as French (..., Mai, Juin, Juillet,...).

My fix/improvment is ready.  It involves only two files:
"lisp/calendar/calendar.el" and "lisp/calendar/diary-lib.el".

Could you please indicate to me the procedure to submit my
fix/improvment?
