Are you sure? It works for me in Emacs 21.3. Did you start emacs with the -q --no-site-file options? What exactly did you type, after setting completion-ignored-extensions to nil? `C-x d RET', `C-x d ?', and `C-x d TAB TAB' all seem to work. -- Kevin Rodgers
