From: Ben Barrowes
Subject: term will not scroll in too narrow of a window

This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!
Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.

Your bug report will be posted to the address@hidden mailing list,
and to the gnu.emacs.bug news group.

In GNU Emacs 21.3.1 (i386-redhat-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars)

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

I run term with /bin/tcsh in a emacs window.
The prompt is:
alias sp 'set temp = `whoami`; set prompt = "address@hidden:\!\:\[%t\]%~\> " '
so it displays the entire path name if not below ~.

If the prompt in the term window (for example split as C-u 6 2 C-x 3) is wider
than the
window number of columns, the term window will not scroll past 2 lines. All new
stdout is displayed in the second line overwriting itself. If the prompt
display is narrower
than the window, then there is no problem with scrolling, that is, until the
prompt becomes
wider than the window, at which point the scrolling bug occurs. This did not
happen until I
just upgraded.
