--- Begin Message --- Subject: Re: bug#547: 23.0.60; Euro symbol not displayed Date: Thu, 11 Dec 2008 23:27:07 +0800 User-agent: Thunderbird (Windows/20081105) The bug turned out to be overeager optimization while listing fonts. When looking for a font for the "symbol" script, only symbol fonts were being considered by the Windows font code. The DejaVu fonts worked because they contain a mapping of the Adobe Symbol characters to the Windows symbol character set. Courier New still doesn't work, as it does not claim to support any of the symbol subranges, but many other fonts do. I imagine the same issue with fonts not claiming to support this range is what is causing a different font to be used on Stefan's system.
