bug#12579: 24.1; Emacs 24.1 / 24.2 (daily) crashes

If you, or others, can provide backtraces of these crashes, that would
be a useful beginning.

Anyway, I just installed a change that might fix some crashes.  Please
see if the situation changes with the next binary snapshot of the
development sources.
