I will follow up...

Still, I'm surprised that Emacs itself would crash so violently. I
have been using Emacs for 30 years and I can't recall ever crashing
Emacs itself (except maybe ~25 years ago when people started first
(unofficially) porting Emacs to X10/X11). Even if there is an external
dll conflict, I would think that at worse it should return an error,
but should not crash emacs -- certainly since gnutls is now included
in Emacs, I would think that it should be crash protected...
