I'd support that.  Doesn't hurt; anyone can
make use of it.  Not a big deal.

I'd hope that we'd hold off for quite a while,
and real, popular acclaim.

It's trivial for users to bind a command.  And
users will let Emacs know if they really, really
want a default binding for some command.  Be
conservative handing out keys by default.
