  ** Emacs now has a --fingerprint option.
  This will output a string identifying the current Emacs build.

The Emacs user manual concurs:

  ‘--fingerprint’
       Print the Emacs “fingerprint”, which is used to uniquely identify
       the compiled version of Emacs.

But if you start Emacs with this new option:

  emacs -Q --fingerprint

you get a "normal" Emacs session with an error message:

  command-line-1: Unknown option ‘--fingerprint’

Other similar options, like --version and --help, don't have this
problematic behavior.

Btw, the fact that the output goes to stdout doesn't seem to be
documented anywhere.
