Problems with -M feature when executing within a script

Subject: Problems with -M feature when executing within a script

We tried to implement gnu tar because of it's multi-tape benefits
over regular tar. The -M feature works fine when executed from the
basic command prompt but not when executed within a script.

The prompt for an additional tape would appear but the process would
never wait for the prompt to be answered.

We tested on both DGUX (MU05) and HPUX (11.0) with no success.
The script is NOT being executed within CRON.

Any suggestions?
