error bij linken met g++ (fwd)

Hi,

I installed bin-utils-2.9.1 on our Sun Solaris 2.6 system.
Previously we used binutils-2.8.1 (since Jan 26 1998) 

After installing (./configure reported Configuring for a
sparc-sun-solaris2.6 host. which is OK), make and make install
the binary in /usr/local/bin, libraries in /usr/local/lib and
man pages where replaced.

Immediatly after, a user reported a linking problem with g++ (2.95.1)
which was not there last week (on the same program source file)
and is most probably caused by the change of binutils:

g++ -o IeeeCC754 -L/opt/SUNWspro/lib -lsunmath -lCrun bitstring.o fp.o hex.o 
IeeeCC754.o  BasicOp/SunSparc/fpenv_SunSparc.o BasicOp/SunSparc/BasicOptest.o
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/sparc-sun-solaris2.6/2.95.1/libgcc.a: could not read 
symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [SunSparc] Error 1

I retried with configuring and making binutils from a parallel directory
objdir, as 'recommended' in the binutils/README file but it does not
change anything.

I wonder if you could tell us what is going wrong ?

(last time, with binutils-2.8.1 there where no problems..)
