Loss of functionality in GDBM?

Hello.

I reactivated an old web site today and it no longer works. It used gdbm
as a "shopping cart". Now, it creates the cart. but can't update it -
giving the message "dbmopen_gdbm(/tmp/frogcbAWq3W): 10 [Can't be writer],
11 [Resource temporarily unavailable] ".

I'm using the gdbm disrtibuted by Red Hat as gdbm-1.8.0-5 under the PHP
web programming environment. Apparently the "c" option on the gdbm_open
function no longer functions as it used to when opening an existing gdbm
file (created shortly beforehand).

This behaviour has been widely noted as far back as January 2001 by users
of PHP versions 3 and 4 - see comments at
"http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.dbmopen.php";.

Thanks,

   Tim Holloway
