/usr/bin/ld: BFD internal error

Hi,

while trying to install Oracle8i Enterprise ld dropped the following
line

/usr/bin/ld: BFD internal error, aborting at ../../bfd/elf32-i386.c line 1754 
in elf_i386_relocate_section

I'm running GNU/Debian Linux - unstable Version

ld -v reports
GNU ld version 2.11.90.0.31 (with BFD 2.11.90.0.31)

this is the line that causes the error:

Do you think there is any possibility using an older ld working fine?
I'm just asking since I would like to have the db running this weekend.
