detach trouble

I have trouble when I use screen in batch files. For example if I start 
with command "screen -m -d -S test vi test.txt" and then run "screen -X 
-r test stuff i" nothing happens in my vi process. Then if I do a 
"screen -r test" and directly detach the screen session manually I can 
run "screen -X -r test stuff i" and the vi editor goes to insert mode 
and it all works as it should. As far as I can see the trouble is that a 
manual detach and a screen started in detach mode dosent detach in the 
exact same way.

This trouble exist in version 3.09.09 and 3.09.11. I run one default 
installed RedHat 7.2 with the latest updates from RedHat up2date program 
on a Dell OptiPlexG1. I have also tested it on a dual PIII tyan 
motherboard with kernel 2.4.18 and RedHat 7.2 and the same problem exist 
there.
