What kind of argument would it take to convince you that your request
is plain silly?  Imagine me requiring that you identify whether you're
using British or American spelling in an email header.  Or requesting
that Germans specify whether they translate into "Hoch-Deutch" or deep
Bavarian.  What you request here is almost as bad.

I thought one of the ideas of the Translation Project was that the
language teams have autonomy and authority when it comes to the issues
of *their* native tongue.

Please desist.  You are hurting cooperation and are certainly not
displaying any "politeness".

Stating that the language of the translation is "Croatian" is as far
from overgeneralization as one can get.
