grep-2.5 failed tests

grep version 2.5

Initially:
8 of 10 tests failed  (warning.sh, kadafy.sh, spencer1.sh, bre.sh, 
ere.sh, status.sh, empty.sh, options.sh)  with "cannot execute".

Permissions on each of the above files were set at 644.

After executing  "chmod a+x tests/*.sh"  and  "make check",

1 of 10 tests failed  (bre.sh)  with  "Spencer bre test #16 failed"


I'm running on an EV5 DEC Alpha running Tru64 Unix 5.1A.
