What is the command line that is being used to invoke ld ?
Do you have access to other operating systems ? If so, does the
problem occur on them as well, or is it specific to Solaris 8 ?
Can you run the linker inside GDB and print out a stack backtrace from
when the seg fault occured ? Does anything look suspicious ? Are
there any NULL pointers involved ?
Can you produce a simple test case that reproduces the fault ?
Cheers
