You're right; I never noticed it because I have GNU grep in my PATH.

My approach is to use whichever 'grep' command is in the PATH. If it
is not a POSIX compliant 'grep', 'msggrep' cannot work well either.
The special case for Solaris is a hack, I admit it.

I see no good reason to search for this program at configure time,
rather than at runtime.

Ideally we would have a GNU libgrep, containing the functionality of
POSIX/glibc regex + kwset, and msggrep would use it. But I guess we
are still not there today.
