gzip bug

Hi

Gzip 1.2.4 on Red hat linux 7.2

I tried to gzip a file which has .gz extension with –f (force) option. It gave me a message that the file has .gz extension and hence did not compress.

Well, I guess it is contrary to what is mentioned in the man file about the –f option.
