this is a good list to reach developers interseted in grep, so it is a
good list for patches.
The list address@hidden would be even more appropriate, as GNU grep is
a part of the GNU project, so it's good to have all bug reports archived
at one place. (I'm cc'ing this mail to bug-grep.)

Instead of your suggestion:

I have decided to fix it by a slightly different way then you suggested,
see below.

I'm afraid it may be our fault. The autoconf script has not been updated
for a long time, and plenty of changes should be made to catch up.
BTW: Can I save your e-mail and eventually ask you to test whether grep
compiles on BeOS?
