Thanks, but I'm affraid I don't understand enough of these tools to make
really use alone of the info there, sorry... Tried hard, but will need a
little assistance if you don't mind.

I patched gettext-0.12.1/config/m4/libtool.m4 and make gettext failed:

| Making all in autoconf-lib-link
| make[1]: Entering directory `/tmp/gettext-0.12.1/autoconf-lib-link'
| cd . && /bin/sh /tmp/gettext-0.12.1/config/missing --run aclocal-1.7 -I m4 -I
../config/m4
| /tmp/gettext-0.12.1/config/missing: aclocal-1.7: command not found
| WARNING: `aclocal-1.7' is needed, and you do not seem to have it handy on your
| system. You might have modified some files without having the
| proper tools for further handling them. Check the `README' file,
| it often tells you about the needed prerequirements for installing
| this package. You may also peek at any GNU archive site, in case
| some other package would contain this missing `aclocal-1.7' program.
| make[1]: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 1
| make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/gettext-0.12.1/autoconf-lib-link'
| make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

I don't really want to install another package not knowing what it is
and what else it will break on my old system, so I "touch
--reference=libtool.m4.orig libtool.m4" after your patch, and make
gettext works... But I get the same duplicated macro error as before
with Mutt.

Alain.
