gettext and glibc |

hey all,
no matter what I do, I'm having difficulty with the newer 'gettext'
distributions.
0.10.40 compiles and works just fine, but doesn't have some of the programs that
other projects (notably apt) need, like msgcomm.
However, if I compile 0.13.1 - everything *seems* fine, until I get to trying
to actually *use* the library with other programs and I get stuff
like:
undefined reference to libintl_gettext, etc.
I'm wondering if this is from glibc-isms in the code, or what - when I try
to configure packages, it says it finds libintl just fine; but it neglects to
add -lintl onto the generated makefiles.
I wish I could be a bit more helpful, so if you want, let me know what
diagnostics
you'd need to fix this. I'm compiling on solaris2.8 with gcc, no glibc. What
can I
do to get around this?
thanks,
Ed
