Bug: grep and egrep doesn't distinguish lower case and upper case in
character range in
some situations.
Found in version 2.5.1 distributed with RedHat Fedora Core 2 :
$ echo "A" | grep '[a-z]'
A
$ echo "a" | grep '[A-Z]'
$ echo "b" | grep '[A-Z]'
b
$
$ uname -a
Linux pc101 2.6.10-1.14_FC2 #1 Thu Feb 10 17:13:14 EST 2005 i686 i686
i386 GNU/Linux
$ grep -V
grep (grep de GNU) 2.5.1
....
$ alias grep
-bash: alias: grep: not found
$ egrep '[a-z]'
AA
AA
...
$ egrep -V
egrep (grep de GNU) 2.5.1
...
