are you sure you are using command `file' from GNU?  I, personally, use
the program file maintained by Christos Zoulas.  I send a cc of this mail to

I cannot understand why should the second line contain the flag "b" when
there is no blank in the string "<svg".

But it might be a bug in my magic(4) manpage.
