Sorry, It is my misake!
I did not include the right args to patch command like
patch -p1 -d . -i <patch-file-name>
The above does work, which is not what I did
when I submitted my complaint.

That's what -p is supposed to do. If it doesn't work for you, can you
please give a specific example where it fails?
